The Muslim community is to be admired for their ban on alcohol. The Jewish community should do likewise.

I hate to admit it, but the author and Rabbi Twersky is so right. Adam doesn't begin to understand the depth of the problem.

Riverdale, where I lived, for many years, is the poster child for rampant alcoholism: Anyone may find this hard to believe. The custom in many quarters of Riverdale was that on Friday afternoon, people would get together in twos or threes or sometimes alone and have a belt or two before Friday night services. There were many private Friday night services which concluded with several more rounds of scotch. The beverage of choice to wash down Friday night diner was scotch, imbibed in large quantities. If you had company Friday night, the drinking was increased exponentially. Shabbos morning, kiddush club. After services, the regular kiddush. Company Shabbos for lunch on Shabbos -- more exponential drinking. More scotch. Lunch, more scotch. Most people sobered up by Tuesday. During the week, these guys would get together once or twice for drinks. Shalom zachor Friday night? Another drink or two. Long afternoon on Shabbos? Shalosh se'udos? You guessed it. The guys who ran the shul, were the drivers of this overdosing. The rabbi just didn't have the testicles to confront his shul leadership. One of the shul "machers" once had a Shabbos bris -- with a mechutan who came from a different community with similar imbibing habits. They bought four cases of scotch for the weekend and primarily for their relatively small circle of friends. Four cases: 48 bottles; shared by maybe 50 people. Over two days. They ran out by Saturday afternoon.

I woke up one day, a couple of months before I decided to seek fame and forthune elsewhere and pretty much went in to voluntary private detox; only because I finally realized this was "INSANE". It took me two months after I got here to completely "go clean." The Riverdale rabbi was well aware of the drinking. he would actually joke about the drinking club from the pulpit. Whenever somebody spoke to the rabbi in Riverdale about this problem, he would say "what problem? I don't see a problem. If I say anything, it would look like we had a problem. "

I think you are now required to say "thanks for sharing."

You said on zev brenner that here are 120,000 moslem kids in NYC schools. How many Jewish kids are there in public nyc schools? what does this say about the future of nyc and what does it say about the cons/ref goals of a self imposed holocaust thru use of birth control and negative population growth for Jews? Are cons/ref leaders 5th column spies who are trying to destroy the Jewish community?
How 'bout a blog on how much charity michael bloomberg gives goyiim and how little he gives Jews and how when he runs for office he suddenly becomes Jewish for a short time.

Wow, what a surprise ! Yet another hateful editorial about Jewish men. You are a sick, hateful person who only seeks to ridicule that which you despise. I can puke from all the bull you write. The men I know and associate with celebrate Shabbos and enjoy our kiddush of salty fish and fatty kugel. Go jump in a lake you disgusting provocator. Just my opinion.
